The ceremony was opened by the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council’s chair, Anne-Marie Reeves, and hosted by Council Trustees Maeve Gillies and Judith Lockwood, who together announced this year’s award winners.
With over 50 Gold, 60 Silver & 100 Bronze award winners, this year was one to remember! Congratulations to all our brilliant winners!
GC&DC's works this year were unparalleled and it was a great honour for me to be present on the night as one of the award winners.
The Jacques Cartier Memorial Award
Penny Davis's 'Enamel Portraits', a series of four enamel portraits, was one of the works that shone brightly this year and won several awards. This work was fantastically and artistically painted using enamel on metal, and the images looked so realistic.
One of the awards that this work has won is The Jacques Cartier Memorial Award, which has been awarded to only a few people within the last decades.
In the Junior section, many creative projects won awards. One of these awards was given to Reuben Veil-Powley for his "Inverted Pyramid Set Ring" which was very innovative in stone-setting technique.

In this year's competition, I won the bronze award for Modeller Craft in the senior category. This was the first time I participated in this part of the competition and I am delighted with the result. The name of my design is "Sun and Love" which I designed using 3D digital sculpting modelling (using Modo and ZBrush software) and made with the help of a 3D printer. I plan to participate in the Modeller category next year and try my chance again and hope to win the gold award this time. 😁
The College Trophy award is given to an educational institution whose students and employees win awards more than other institutions, and this year it was awarded to Birmingham City University. School of Jewellery (SOJ) in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham is the largest and one of the most prestigious jewellery schools in the UK. Every year many people from all over the world go to this school to study jewellery. The interesting thing is that many of the winners of the awards from this school are international students, especially from China. I had the honour to study Jewellery and Silversmithing at this school.
And finally, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Tony Bedford for his unique sculptures and years of silversmithing.
